Yes you read it right folks, Ashley scored a very good 68 no and took 4 wickets according to his facebook status he was denied 5 wickets due to a dropped catch.

The game started with us loosing fritz early doors, but the ever reliable record breaking Spewy Greg Davis scored 82 and was backed up with some exellent batting from Ashley Thompson 68no Chris Thomson 37 and Stuart rank with 28, after looking like we might struggle to score 220 we racked up an impresive 275 for7, the highlight of the Lepton bowling was the impresive Brown who took 4 for 107 in 25 overs and Dale Mr Cricket Winterbottom with 3 for 111.

Lepton lost Slack early doors and Dale Winterbottom and Brown scored freely both making half centuries untill dead eye Dean Rickson struck taking them both out with his dynamic speed! from there on Lepton struggled to 209 for 9 and even the trusty Chris James couldn't bowl them out to earn us 6 points.

Chris Thomsom bowled well without luck 17 overs for 51 runs, sharpy 1 for 36 and Dean Rickson 2 for 70 from 15 overs but as mentioned above the highlight was Ashley Thomsons 4 for 14 from 9 overs.

Well done guys good 5 points.

Lepton 131 all out ( A Ahmed 31, Nick Sharp 3-32, Greg Davis 4-19)
For the 3 consecutive game a large margin of victory was achieved.
After a slow start with 47 coming off the first 16 over, 272 came up in the last 34 overs, as Fritsi shared in century stands with Greg and Sharpy, who played th innings of the day. Ranky and Thommo hit out late on to take the score over 300 for the 2nd week running.
At 80-2 Lepton were in the hunt but change bowlers Sharpy and Greg bowled well to leave Jamesy the honours of securing victory with the last wicket.
A bigger challenge awaits next Sunday (23rd May) away at Delph in the 2nd round of the Sykes Cup, next league game- Saturday 22nd, away at Almondbury.

Clayton came within 18 runs of their All time 50 over League record as the batsmen ran riot. Innings of the day was a maiden half century from young Ash who hit a chanceless 84 showing his full potential, while Ranky and Thommo hit the Micklehurst attack to all parts. Ash and Ranky added 138 for the 4th wicket and Ash and Thommo shared an unbroken 135.
In reply Kola and Thommo took 2 wickets each and Greg produced his best bowling performance of the year. The 2 Charnley’s added over 100 for the 8th wicket before 2 late run outs secured all 6 points. Kev Rank was good in the field with 2 catches and a run out, fresh from his latest trip off!

1st  Round Sykes Cup, Sat 1st May

10 man Almondbury showed little resistance in a game that was completed in 90 minutes.
Kola and Chris Thomson bowled well to skittle the opponents, Chris taking his tally in the last 2 games to 13 wickets.
Greg led the team home in his usual classical manner.
Not much more to say but we got our 1st win of the season and look forward to a good Cup draw!

Minor injuries to Nick Sharp and Greg Davis saw Kola, Chris James and Dean Rickson step up to the mark with tidy spells to keep Premiership club Barkisland to a reachable total.
Unfortunately only Greg and Thommo showed any form with the bat.
The only way is up after two defeats in 2 days.

Catching lapse prove costly in Season opener

Clayton West 238-8 (Greg Davis 135, Nick Sharp 27)
Sat 17 Apr, 1st 11.
Disappointment in the season opener was offset by a tremendous 1st innings for the Club from Aussie Greg Davis.
Several catches were spilt which allowed Shelley to reach 30-40 runs more than should have been the case. Credit must however go to Joe Sykes and Sam Scott in building the total.
In reply Clayton were on track at 177-2 with 16 overs left.  Davis produced a classy innings which augers well for the season striking fifteen 4’s and eight 6’s.
